The media as a possible source of danger to a preschool child through the eyes of their parents.

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of negative media effects on preschool children. The initial part of the work is devoted to the explanation of the term medium, its typology and functions. Furthermore, the work concerns the importance of media and digital literacy and its deployment in educational programs for preschool and primary education. The work also includes a description of the developmental specifics of preschool children and a description of the negative effects of the media. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to educational styles in the family and their use for media education. The aim of the work was to find out how parents of preschool children perceive watching the media and whether they are aware of the possible negative effects that media have on children. The research was based on a quantitative method and a non-standardized questionnaire was used for data collection. 166 respondents took part in the survey based on the data analysis and interpretation of the results. The results show that parents of preschool children are aware of the negative effects of the media and are interested in the content that children consume in the media. Media literacy in the digital age: Ethnic and national stereotypes in the media and their impact on high school youth

This bachelor's thesis examines the influence of the media on youth and explores it through the focus on ethnic and national stereotypes in the media. Through a quantitative method of questionnaire survey distributed among high school students in the Karviná region, it examines the ways of media consumption, experiences with media representation of ethnic and national minorities, as well as attitudes towards the represented reality. It also examines how students themselves perceive the influence of the media and what media and digital literacy tools they are aware of themselves. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the current state of media influence on youth, ethnic and national stereotype theory and digital literacy. The practical part is devoted to the analysis and presentation of the results of the questionnaire survey.
Generation Alpha and its relationship to the social media

This paper aims to examine the Generation Alpha and particularily what is the role of media in their lives. The whole text is sourced from academic research and surveys both from the Czech Republic and across the world. In the first part, the paper describes the topic of generations in general, offers definitions and approaches to classifying generations - and reasoning behind these. Moreover, the first part of the paper compares generations preceding the Generation Alpha. The second part describes specific characteristics of the Generation Alpha, their values, attitude to education and focuses on the psychosocial developement of this age cohort. It focuses on the distance learning and its impact on this generation, since the fallout of COVID-19 pandemic caused it to be unprecedentedly widespread. Work of Mark McCrindle, the man who named the Generation Alpha, is briefly mentioned here. The final part describes media, their impact on human personality developement and Generation Alpha in particular. A comparison is drawn between how Generation Alpha of Czech Republic relates to media and what is the global picture.
The influence of the media on the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the influence of media on the wellbeing of people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Theoretical part of this thesis describes several different types of media and their influence on the society as well as the definition of public opinion and the principles of dissemination of information. Because the aforementioned pandemic is a crisis situation, the thesis also defines those situations. Research part of this thesis focuses on quantitative and qualitative analysis of data from the JUPSYCOR research. The qualitative analysis is focused on a detailed study of the influence of media as ranked by respondents. The quantitative part of this thesis focuses on finding (correlation/context) between the codes created during the qualitative analysis.
Media image of child sexual abuse in Czech TV news

The bachelor's thesis is focused on media image of child sexual abuse in Czech TV news. The thesis introduces the issues of this serious social problem, presents context of social sciences, rapist, victims and consequences of sexual abuse. The media chapter introduces possible influences of news about child sexual abuse on society. Quantitative content analysis was used for the research. Three of the most popular TV stations - ČT1, Nova, Prima − were included in the research. News transcription related to child sexual abuse was monitored from the beginning of 2010 until the end of 2015 with the aid of the Newton Media SEARCH database. The time period was chosen because of actuality and sufficient sample of news. Three large cases were chosen. Cases were connected with organizations (the Scout group, the BBC television, the Catholic church). These organizations should help and protect children. The affairs were presented, in detail, the data from the news were analyzed, then interpreted and compared. The aim of the analysis was to find if society is sufficiently informed about this problem, if news about child sexual abuse can transform the society's view and if the news had some taboo or stereotypes about this problem.

This master's thesis named The influence of communication channels on decision making of first-time voters shown on the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2017 focuses on the influence and use of the consumption of communication channels on the decision making of first-time voters. This thesis also portrays the phenomenon of contemporary opinion leaders, such as YouTubers, bloggers, and other Internet celebrities. The theoretical section of the thesis describes the organization of elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, defines the first-time voter in terms of psychological and sociological, discusses the impact of socialization within family, school, and media, presents the concept of political efficacy, and describes the electoral participation of adolescents. Agenda Setting in the Issue of Refugeedom: Analysis of Connection Between Media Exposure and Perceived salience of the Issue

The diploma thesis concerns itself with the analysis of connection between the media exposure to refugeedom topics and the perceived salience of the issue. Combined qualitative and quantitative research designs ruled by QUAN → qual scheme are used in the thesis. In the quantitative part the effect of exposure to refugeedom-related news on the perceived salience of the subject is constructed using TV and newspaper viewing figures while controlling socio- demographic characteristics of respondents. Binary logistic regression was used to find the influence. The analysis shows that the exposure to content concerning immigration and refugees has influenced the rated importance of the issue. However, there are other variables not included in the model which are affecting the salience. The qualitative approach offers insights into the relationship discovered with quantitative methods. In-depth interviews showed people are aware of the media influence mainly regarding topics they are thinking about and discussing with their social surroundings. The Role of Media in Eeveryday Life of Contemporary Early Teenagers

This bachelor thesis investigates the influence of media communication channels on students in elementary schools, mainly from the point of view how the media influence is perceived by the students themselves. In the introductory part the thesis presents key theoretical findings from selected literature related to the chosen theme and the paradigms issuing from theoretical research, mainly in the field of television broadcasting impact on the selected age category and on its capacity to notice the media impact by itself. In order to set the theme in the appropriate context the paper also introduces specialized terms, theories on the media impact and an overview of the current level of media education in families and schools. The empirical segment, which is the main part of this thesis, explains in thorough detail the preparation, execution and outcome of the research questionnaire applied on two Prague elementary schools. The questionnaire was applied on students from the 5th to the 9th grade. Medial image of candidates for president in second round of elections

The aim of this bachelor thesis is Media image of the candidates for president in the second round of elections, which were held in the Czech Republic in 2013. Using the method of content analysis and visual analysis of three of the most read online news, outcomes were found. The purpose was to find out if some of the news favored one of the candidates, if the news supported stereotypes about candidates and how they reached it. It was found, that all online news wrote in favor of Karel Schwarzenberg. They showed him (through photos, headlines and reports) more often in positive way then they showed his rival Miloš Zeman. Server Novinky.cz showed both candidates the most often of all online news in positive way. It published the most of the headlines, pictures and reports, which were positive. The most objective daily news was Aktualne.cz, because of the fact, that it published the largest number of neutral photos, headlines and reports of all servers. The proportion of positive and negative reports was in this server the most even of all. Miloš Zeman was showed in the most cases as a self-confident man with empty hands. Czech media's influence on the book market in 2012

In the introduction of this study I set out the current state of the Czech book market, how it operates, and the results Czech publishers. I also try to find answers to questions about various ethical and moral dilemmas, both in literature and in-person interviews with experts on the topic. The aim is to determine how significant Czech newspapers influenced the book market in 2012. For this I decided to use the analysis of media content, which is firstly explained and followed by a description and comment on the results. Then I will try to show the influence of the media on the book market using the experiment.
